A recent article from the Wall Street Journal titled “The Price Women Pay for Networking With High-Status People” explains the stereotypes that can inhibit the success of typical networking strategies for women.
The article was co-authored by Sanger faculty champion and Michigan Ross Assistant Professor, Siyu Yu.
“To get ahead in the workplace, you need to network with high-status people. There is just one risk: The strategy is effective for men–but less so for women, and it can even harm their status at the office … because of stereotypes and biases about how women should behave, ” shares Yu.
