The Academy of Management (AOM) recently published a list of the most read and cited articles published in 2023, showcasing the impactful research contributions made within the field of management and organizational studies. This compilation offers valuable insights into the trending topics, influential authors, and significant findings that have garnered attention and recognition within the academic community.

Sanger faculty champions and Research Lab members Julia Lee Cunningham and Sue Ashford’s research article titled, Do I Dare? The Psychodynamics of Anticipated Image Risk, Leader-Identity Endorsement, and Leader Emergence, was the #1 most read article in the Academy of Management Journal.

Lee Cunningham and Ashford are professors at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Lee Cunningham, an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, researches the psychology of narratives, mindsets, and behavioral ethics. Ashford, who holds the Michael and Susan Jandernoa Professorship in Management and Organizations, is renowned for her expertise in leadership, career development, and organizational behavior.
