Our Stories

“Participating in the Leadership Crisis Challenge was one of the most immersive and rewarding experiences of my time at Ross. Navigating my first-ever press conference pushed me to think quickly, communicate with clarity under pressure, and respond thoughtfully to intense media scrutiny. The experience strengthened my confidence in crisis leadership, sharpened my strategic communication skills, and reinforced the power of collaboration, especially within a strong, driven team of women. It was an unforgettable opportunity to practice calm, ethical, and decisive leadership when it matters most.”

“I couldn’t imagine a more effective way to simulate a real leadership crisis than LCC. The experience mirrors scenarios we could realistically face in our careers, forcing thoughtful, timely decision-making under real pressure with incomplete data. It was a phenomenal experience and one I’m grateful to draw on should I ever face a similar situation in the future. GO BLUE!”

“The Leadership Crisis Challenge presented a transformative learning experience with an incredibly well-designed and well-organized program. Collaborating with a team that’s randomly put together at the last moment tested our ability to adapt and collaborate amidst a volatile, evolving situation. It is an epitome for the action-based learning philosophy at Ross, where I had the opportunity to connect the dots from the Story Lab and Legacy Lab sessions to gain a better understanding of my own personal style of leadership.”

“I really liked how the Leadership Development Plan session broke down complicated problems into simple steps. The best part was having space to consider a specific issue (like me feeling burned out, or my team experiencing conflict) and using the resources provided to determine exactly which leadership “hat” to put on to address it. Going forward, I plan to use this model as a quick checklist to diagnose challenges and figure out where to start, whether that means setting clearer rules or just being more supportive.”

“I truly enjoyed being able to experience Collaboration Lab as an introduction to the program during my Michigan Ross Master of Management orientation. It allowed me to reflect upon my personal experiences with communication, goal development, and conflict while learning from my peers about their skills and abilities. This set of sessions has helped prepare me for the start of my program, as it primed me for team projects and the need for strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills. It has made me excited to dig into other Ross program offerings!”

“Collaboration Lab set our team up for success from the very beginning of our MAP project. The program helped us build a strong team culture and set clear expectations early on, so we understood each other’s obligations, strengths, and work styles—eliminating surprises down the road. That strong foundation provided structure and support as we worked through the inevitable challenges that come with any MAP experience.”

“Participating in Collaboration Lab: Launch was an invaluable part of my orientation. The 360 assessment and workshops—like Launching Your Leadership Development Plan and Managing High-Performing Teams—equipped me with practical tools and insights that helped me navigate my first year with confidence. These sessions strengthened my self-awareness and prepared me to collaborate more effectively and manage team dynamics with intention.”

“Participating in the Legacy Lab was a transformative experience that reshaped my understanding of what it means to lead with purpose and impact. Over two weeks, I gained four powerful tools: advancing self-development, clarifying purpose and values, developing a growth mindset, and building trust within teams. These strategies have helped me grow as a leader, and I’m excited to apply them as I strive to inspire, connect, and create positive change.”
