Finance Leader and U-M Alum Stanley Berkman Joins Sanger Advisory Board

The Sanger Leadership Center is proud to announce the appointment of Stanley (Stan) P. Berkman to the Sanger Advisory Board. A seasoned finance executive and dedicated mentor, Berkman brings a wealth of experience in investment strategy, business growth, and leadership development.

Berkman is the Managing Director of Kerwick Capital, a Los Angeles-based investment firm specializing in middle-market growth and turnaround opportunities. Previously, he was a Managing Director at BNP Paribas, where he led North American banking operations and regional branches across the U.S. In addition to his finance career, Berkman serves as Board Chair of Eisner Health, a federally qualified health center providing primary care to over 45,000 patients. A proud University of Michigan alumnus, he holds an MBA in Finance from New York University and a BBA from Michigan Ross.

Reflecting on his decision to join the Sanger Advisory Board, Berkman shared:

“I have been involved in the Leadership Crisis Challenge for several years. Experiencing the immersive and transformative nature of this event for both the students and other participants made me eager to deepen my commitment to the Sanger Leadership Center. I hope I can help bring resources and experience to further enhance the Center.”

His passion for mentorship and leadership education is a driving force behind his involvement:

“I have tremendously valued my role as a mentor and champion of colleagues during my career. I am eager to be part of the Sanger community and to share my stories and experience with a new generation of leaders. Sanger programs are an excellent vehicle for the development of the skills required for effective leadership. It makes me proud to join this group and be part of this exchange and growth.”

Berkman is the seventeenth member to join the Sanger Advisory Board, which comprises a diverse group of accomplished professionals dedicated to advancing the Center’s mission. The Board plays a crucial role in providing strategic input, supporting fundraising efforts, and fostering corporate connections. Members attend bi-annual board meetings with the Sanger team and also contribute their expertise at several of Sanger’s programs.
