A recent Michigan Ross blog highlights how students in Ross’s One-Year Master’s (OYM) programs are growing as leaders, both in and out of the classroom. Two featured students, Lucas Moore (MM ’25) and Emi Ying Wang (MBAn ’25), have also participated in Sanger Leadership Center programs.

Lucas called out the Leadership Crisis Challenge as a key experience in his OYM journey. “The OYM action-based learning opportunities, such as the Consulting Studio and Leadership Crisis Challenge, allow students to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting and apply their learnings to real-world projects,” he said.

Emi, a Ross Leaders Academy ’25 alum, shared that the most valuable lessons from her program included learning how to create psychological safety within teams, communicate effectively, and seize new opportunities. “Whether I’m in or out of the classroom,” she said, “the ability to collaborate with open-mindedness and take initiative has been crucial to my success.”
