What happens when everything goes wrong—and a stranger shows up to help?
Storytelling is a powerful tool that the best leaders use to influence and inspire others. At Story Lab, students develop executive-level presence and communication skills through storytelling workshops and events.
In a live-recorded episode of the University of Michigan’s M-LEAD’s Break Away podcast, Story Lab participant Alfred Koo, Ph.D ’29, shares a personal story from the Story Lab Showcase about a night out in West Hollywood that took an unexpected turn. After losing his passport just days before a major academic opportunity, Alfred found himself spiraling—until an act of kindness from a stranger reminded him that trust, hope, and humanity still exist in the most unlikely places.
Story Lab is sponsored by M-LEAD and the Ford School’s Leadership Initiative. The program is open to any student at the University of Michigan.
