The Sanger Mentorship Program continued to grow during the 2025–2026 academic year, expanding from five to 55 mentor-mentee pairs.
Designed to connect student leaders with experienced alumni, the program creates opportunities to exchange real-world insights, test new approaches to leadership, and build meaningful relationships. Throughout the year, mentors and mentees met regularly to share advice, reflect on challenges, and deepen their perspectives through meaningful conversations.
“This program gave me the opportunity to build a genuine relationship with a mentor who helped me reflect more deeply, clarify my path, and lead different aspects of my life with greater confidence,” said Batule Hamka, BBA ’27. “Having that support has been deeply impactful.”
For alumni, the program offers an opportunity to give back while investing in the next generation of leaders.
“Mentoring at Michigan Ross has given me a meaningful way to give back to the community that shaped me,” said Jie Ren, WMBA ’22, director of strategy and marketing at Sensata Technologies. “Sharing my experiences—the successes and the hurdles—has allowed me to support the next generation of leaders as they build confidence and navigate their own paths.”
Several members of the Sanger Advisory Board—including Jessica Lieberman Quinn (American Express), Jim Sohigian (Deloitte), Stan Berkman (Kerwick Capital), and Rebecca Callahan (Summer Day LLC)—also volunteered as mentors during the year.
