Inside Michigan Ross: A Look At Action-Based Learning

We teach leadership through action-based learning and inclusive communities. But what exactly is action-based learning? Ross Ambassador and MBA ’21 Ebrar Derya Erdem recently blogged for Poets&Quants and shared her experiences. Ebrar writes about her experience working with Amazon during MBA Orientation. During the three-day challenge organized by Sanger in 2019, students were challenged to come up with solutions to serve the base of the pyramid in India.

“I loved finding myself in the middle of a ‘real’ business challenge that encouraged me to find a solution which could be potentially implemented,” Ebrar writes. “This also helped me learn about teamwork and leadership under pressure. For example, I saw how we can show leadership by taking the lead at specific sections or by disagreeing with the solution under discussion even though it is generally accepted.”
